Before You Walk Out That Door, A Few Reminders For Buying A New Cell Phone
|
Thinking of going out and buying a new cell phone? Who can blame you...the one you have now is very outdated and you're missing out on the latest innovations in mobile phone technology. But before you grab your coat and that big wad of cash, remember a few pointed questions.
1.Are you really determined to find phones for sale?
You'll definitely find them, everywhere you look in fact. But consider that many top providers are willing to give you a free phone if you sign a service agreement with them. Of course, nobody likes the idea of signing a service agreement, but the truth is, cell phones without plans really don't work too well. The plans are what make the mobile phone a real pleasure. Chances are the free cell phone offered would be much better than the old model you're holding now. Free phones offered by Verizon, Cingular and Nokia include new features like email, web browsing, small camcorders and digital recording options.
2.Have you read the cell phone reviews?
Not every device is what you're looking for. Popular models like the T-Mobile Sidekick, Sony/Ericsson W600, LG Fusic and the Razr include many advanced features like a camera, recorder and wireless connection, but are priced anywhere from $100.00-$200.00. Most cell phones mechanically speaking tested well and are well reviewed by customers. Most complaints have to do with the service itself, annoying including plan details and long terms commitments.
3.If you lose your phone, make sure it's not the end of the world.
If you buy a $300.00 phone, it's really going to hurt if by some chance you lose it, or if it falls into cement fix. If you ever report a stolen Sidekick model, then the provider might give you a new one, under certain plans. However, the pricier the phone, the less chance there is of getting a free replacement.
4.You're not going to play Pac-Man or Tetris behind the wheel are you?
Seriously, cell phones in school and cell phones and driving don't mix well. While games are fun, you're not going to be spending a lot of time playing games on a 2- inch screen. The primary uses of a mobile phone is for wireless activity (check your email and browse the web) taking emergency pictures or recording video footage, listening to MP3s, talking to friends and of course, disrupting business meetings on purpose with the Number #1 downloaded ring tune of Super Mario Bros.
